How many people will be diagnosed with breast cancer in 2010?
The American Cancer Society states that in the year 2010, 1.5 million people will be diagnosed with breast cancer with a dramatic increase in men’s breast cancer. More than ten million Americans are currently living with or through cancer. Global cancer rates could increase by 50 percent to fifteen million by 2020. Of those who survive, one quarter will have breast cancer recurrence. There are currently 250,000 breast cancer survivors in the United States who are forty-five years old or younger. With early and correct detection paramount for survival, there is a desperate need for new perspectives on this illness, such as those offered in SURVIVING CANCERLAND.
